How you use it…
1. The UTAG is an aluminium alloy digital dog tag, for use in an emergency. The front of the UTAG features the acronym ICE, meaning ‘in case of emergency’. The snake and staff medical symbol inside the paramedic star will alert emergency services that the UTAG contains important medical information.
2. The UTAG contains a USB drive which swivels open to reveal the connector. This is a unique design bringing the traditional dog tag into the digital age, this allows more information to be stored than could be on a traditional dog tag.
3. With the UTAG fully open the device folds flat ready to be inserted into a normal USB port.
4. The UTAG is a super slim USB device that can be inserted into a normal USB port on a windows ME, 2000, XP or Vista computer. Once inserted, your computer will recognise the device, it will pop up a window to ask you to open the device (Me, 2000 and XP) or run the program (Settings dependant in Vista).
5. The initial view shows the UTAG read only ‘Public screen’. This shows your information to the user when plugged into a PC. Behind this screen are three password protected edit screens. The information displayed is non ID sensitive, i.e. you are asked for your year of birth only, not your full date of birth. All fields are optional you only need to complete the information that you would like to include.
6. The UTAG is multilingual. In the medical information edit screen, the most common conditions and allergies are listed with tick boxes. This allows for easy editing and because they are chosen with a tick we know the translation in another language. From the drop down language section window you can choose another language. This will translate all the headers and the medical conditions and allergies you choose to tick. This enables a speaker of a different language to understand your information, not only in an emergency. If you are travelling abroad and you have a minor injury, you may have trouble explaining a condition to a medical professional. With the UTAG you could hand it over and let them look at your information in their own language (dependant on language spoken).
